The Cross Connection Resource Center will be used for the following:
Resource Program:
Families come to Cross Connection for food, financial guidance, encouragement, housing assistance, clothes, counseling, mentoring, help finding a job, help learning how to use a computer, help with life skills and other basic needs. CCRC would like to be a resource to these families by connecting them with current ministries in our community and also help meet some of these needs for both youth and parents. Classes for parents are also part of resourcing and equipping the community.
Mentoring Program:
Youth need trustworthy relationships in their life to be an example, listen, encourage and teach them life skills. One -to -one mentoring can provide youth the opportunity to have someone help them reach their full potential. Mentoring impacts not only the life of a young person, but the family as well. It encourages youth to do better in school, get along with their families and be less likely to use drugs, alcohol and be involved in criminal activity.
After School Tutoring:
Many students may not get the help they need at home or may have trouble asking for help with their school work. Some students feel uncomfortable staying after school for help or may not have the supplies, computer or printer at home to complete their assignments. One-to-one tutoring helps students complete their school work so that they will be less likely to drop out or skip school and be more likely to graduate. One-to-one tutoring also helps young people gain confidence and become self sufficient.
